Round Table at NLC2024, Malta

Mike and I are thrilled to announce the hanfod.NL team’s participation in the upcoming 14th International Conference on Networked Learning (NLC2024), taking place in Malta from 15-17 May 2024.

Our journey from NLC2022 in Sundsvall, Sweden, where our contributions were warmly embraced, fuels our anticipation and pride as we look forward to engaging once more with the networked learning community.

Phenomenology in Networked Learning

This year, NLC2024, set to unfold at the University of Malta in Valletta, will spotlight phenomenology as a central theme. This focus underscores our continuous dedication to delving into the complex layers of human experience within the realm of digital education. Our forthcoming edited book, Phenomenology in Action for Researching Networked Learning, to be published by Springer, embodies this commitment. Including a breadth of contributions from our double symposium at NLC2022 in Sweden, the book addresses critical gaps in networked learning research by focusing on phenomenological methods, offering a nuanced exploration of digital interactions and human experiences.

Orchestrated by the book’s editorial team—Mike, Cathy, Nina, and myself—the session aims to deepen the integration of phenomenology in networked learning. The discussion will kick off with an introduction to the book, followed by critiques and reflections from four distinguished discussants, opening the floor to an engaging dialogue on the potential and challenges of phenomenological research in our field. We welcome the active participation of all attendees, aiming to foster a dynamic exchange of ideas.

Looking Forward

As we advance towards NLC2024, our dedication to enriching the networked learning landscape through critical inquiry and collaboration remains unwavering. We are excited to share this journey with you, exploring new horizons in education and phenomenology.
